Minutes for Parish Council
October 14, 2009

In the beginning of the year we have students coming and going; I think we have settled into place now – but always open to a new student.
We have 5 students in the Preschool Class
We have 7 students in the 2nd/3rd Grade Class
We have 7 students in the 4th-5th-6th-7th Grade Class
We have 3 students in the 8th / 9th Grade Class; this is the Confirmation Class beginning the first class in January with Confirmation being held on October 31st, 2010. (St. Jude Feast Day Celebration) We are considering moving one 7th grade students into that class depending on conversations with his parents, Fr. Tom and both teachers.

Sunday October 18th Fr. Tom will be baptizing two or our Students: Carlie Miller, age 3 and Brandon Jones (4th Grade)
Saturday October 31st: there is a First Penance Service for three of our students: Brandon Jones, Leila Jones and Brittney Kennedy.
These students will be making their First Communion on December 20th, 2009.

Sacraments are very important to us and because we work so hard to make sure that all of our students have an opportunity to make their sacraments; we are getting new families to join our parish. Those making the above sacraments are new families and excited about our program. Carlie Miller and Leila Jones are sisters and the grandchildren of Bruce and Sharon Thompson.

With the help of Fr. Tom; we have two parishioners (both new) taking part in the RCIA program at Sacred Heart Cathedral. One is Ismne (Izzy) Morency and Henry Miller who is the father of Carlie Miller and Leila Jones. Families

Calendar:
We have canceled two of our classes due to the construction in the hall. The dates of these are November 1st and November 8th. Those Sundays the First Communion Class will meet with me in the Church during class time. Other Sundays we meet during the first half of mass so that we can have them ready for the Sacrament but also so that they can be part of Religious Education Program and all the activities that we have. The rest of the time we will be using the church for practice for St. Jude Service and for Christmas Eve Service; hopefully we will also be able to use the hall; especially Dec. 6th which is our Christmas Party.

St. Jude Feast Day:
That day is a Youth Mass – Youth Mass means the students from Religious Education.
I have prepared a schedule of events with the help of Fr. Tom
The Students will do the readings
After the Gospel the students are enacting a story about St. Jude; the story will be narrated and the students will only be acting the roles – no lines.
Students and parents will reading the prayers of the faithful which include prayers Bishop Holley, Fr. Tom and Fr. George in honor of “World Priest Day”,
St. Jude Feast Day
Prayer for those in the “Sharing the Vision” program
Among other prayers
Gifts will be brought up by students and parents; additional gifts are the 100 St. Jude medals to be blessed and 100 St. Jude prayer card/bookmarks
At the end of the Mass Karen Sobiecki will make an announcement and then one of our students will say a special prayer for the priests and make a presentation to each of them – something they have done themselves.
After mass; the students will hand out the blessed St. Jude medals and the prayer cards to all there.

On November 15th our students will go to St. Elizabeth to participate in their feast day. We will also do a narrative with parts being enacted by students. After the mass the students will hand out St. Elizabeth of Hungary Prayer Card/ Bookmarks.

Donations: We have received three donations to help us get things for the students
We will be taking orders for beautiful fresh Christmas Wreaths the next two weekends and then the wreaths will be delivered the first week in December. We will also have one bake sale on a Sunday only in November. We hope to manage to pay for our books for the year with this – the books have cost $500.00.

Addendum to the Parishioners Meeting Minutes - 08-13-08

suecarol Hi All,
I am so sorry that due to my health I was unable to attend the meeting. I can see that you do need input from me though regarding your comment that "I should contact Dottie" and you would not have known that I have done since I was not at the meeting.

My report to you is this:
October 26th is the Feast of St. Jude. Lastyear Fr. George asked me if it would be possible to have our confirmation on that Sunday. I went to the Bishop's office and it was agreed that we could have that Sunday. This past spring we began preparing for Confirmation. Myself and Michael Gaffney are the teachers. I contacted Martha Seep from the Altar Society some time ago regarding a cake with the names of the confimandi on it - (now there are4 students and one adult that will be confirmed). I also have been in touch with Dottie regarding gifts, they were purchased some time ago - I have them. I have had a meeting with Tina, Michael and Fr. George regarding the music for the mass and I have the program typed and ready for some last minute information. We are planning a retreat for the confirmandi on Saturday Oct. 11th which will be conducted by Fr. George, Michael Gaffney and myself. When first planning the retreat, Fr. George and I talked about it, if there is anything going on in the hall we will move the retreat to the church, easy to do.

I thought it worked out well for us that there was already a meal being planned for the Feast of St. Jude and that we were incorporating the confirmation with that.

The entire year has been planned and the calendar set for the Religious Education program and it was approved by Fr. George. We have two plays, one at Christmas Eve Mass and another in the spring. I am attaching a copy of our calendar.

We have been taking registrations since July and we are growing in numbers .We havesome students from last year coming back and some new families joining our church and our Religious Education Program. After Confirmation when our confirmdi join the youthgroup, we will have approximately 14 students in our Religious Education Program.

Thank you for the opportunity to add my report to these minutes.
